2008 Committees
Programs
The Programs Committee is by far one of the Chapter’s busiest committees. The Programs Committee is charged with the task of effectively coordinating and executing the various programs and events for the Chapter. The Committee works closely with the Treasurer to ensure that funds (both income and expense) associated with each event relate closely to the annual budget. The Committee meets monthly to discuss the details of each event including venues, times, materials, expenses, etc. The Programs Committee is always looking for volunteers to assist with the various events of the year. Please contact any Board or Committee member for more information.
Communications
The Communications Committee is charged with the task of affectively communicating information to the Chapter members. The Committee is responsible for the design and distribution of Consensus, the Chapter’s newsletter. In addition, the Committee maintains and updates the Chapter website. The Committee also coordinates the Chapter’s Membership Directory, which includes solicitation of advertisers and working closely with the graphic designer. Please contact any Board or Committee member for more information.
Membership
The Membership Committee works closely with CAI National. The Committee keeps a close eye on Chapter members to ensure that there are no lapses in memberships. The Committee works hard on recruitment of new members by providing information from National regarding incentives, annual dues, etc. Please contact any Board or Committee member for more information.
Legislation
The purpose of the Virginia Legislative Action Committee (VALAC) is to
protect the interests of those living in condominium, cooperative and property owners associations by educating elected state
lawmakers and monitoring, introducing and influencing legislation affecting community
associations throughout Virginia.
VALAC is a committee of the national, non-profit Community Associations Institute
(CAI), and is comprised of 9 representatives - three from each of the three CAI Virginia chapters (Washington
Metropolitan, Central Virginia and Southeastern) - representing more than 100,000 homeowners in
approximately 1,000 communities.
